So my words now appear in three places - here (obviously), at Everything2 and now, inevitably at Blogspot. This now troubles me slightly, because if I find I have something to write, I need first to work out where I want to put it. So for the first time, I decided to work on a plan...

Some of you may know me from a site known as Everything2, where I've been writing for the last 5-odd years. Some of you may know me from Kingdom of Loathing, an online game. Others may remember me from PCServiceCall, now The Tech Guys in Nottingham.
Back in November 2004 I flew from my home in England to California, to meet Christine, who I'd met on the same site. We fell in love, as people do, and her daughter Tess seemed to accept me, so I popped the question on 21st December, 2005. Winter Solstice. She said "Yes", we started making plans.
First thing we decided to do was to have a handfasting, and Lo, we did. It was wonderful, and as a part of the proceedings, we asked Tess if she'd accept me in the family, and got a "Yes" to that too. Thanks for Joe and Joanne, who conducted the ceremony, and all our friends from Everything2 for supporting us!
Deleriously happy, we went on a whistle-stop tour of the English Midlands, before Christine had to fly back to the US, mid-February. Ten days later, 25th February she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I suddenly had a decision to make...

wertperch.co.uk has moved from the old hosting machine in the grotty midlands data centre (if you can call it that) to a new hosting platform.

It's after the faint smell of childhood sweat, the memory of tomato sandwiches and dandelion and burdock cordial swigged from the bottle. It's after running around the orchard and fields in the English summer sun, coming back along the dusty verge, muddy and tired in the special eight-year-old way that muscles cramp...

Why on earth don't you supply brassieres for women who have had a mastectomy?
My wife has just turned 42 and wants a pretty bra. She has just spent a year in Hell going through treatment for breast cancer (including the removal of one breast - imagine that!), and needs some cheering up.
One in seven (1 in 7) American women will get breast cancer. ONE in FOUR (that's 1 in four, people) are under 40 (forty)...

Sadly, the original public Guestbook Gallery is broken. I have backed up the actual photos, but the gallery has been deleted, and the old captions and comments were sadly lost forever.
However, there is good news! I have created a new gallery, here, where you can post new pictures of yourselves. Please read the FAQ before posting.
I have also created an archive of the old pictures, and you will be able to request or create new captions for them...

The ring is prepared. The Combatants are ready. In the red corner, skinny and tall, the American Graham Cracker, in the blue, the round and plump British Digestive biscuit. Both are tan and firm, both full of energy, vim and vigour.
The contest of cracker vs biscuit will be over 5 rounds - the winner will be determined by points, or a knockout. Your referee for today is Kevin Weedon, and this long-awaited TransAtlantic Biscuit Challenge will begin directly, after these words from our sponsors...

wertperch (lowercase, please) is occasionally known as Kevin Weedon. He was born near Peterborough (England, naturally) in 1956. Since this time, his long journey through life has taken him through Europe and North Africa, finally to the USA in search of something like peace and understanding, a search which now seems to have finished.
